Our Baby Must Haves – Months 0 to 2

May 3, 2016 by jill.patel Leave a Comment

It's hard to believe that our little baby is already a few months old! Now we're taking a look back and remembering some of the items that we just couldn't live without.  During the first few months, all toys and other forms of entertainment were completely unnecessary for us.  Instead it was all about sleeping, feeding and changing. And so this list is primarily items that made those things easier. So first and foremost: Diapers and Wipes!!!! Ok...so other than the ...

Palak Paneer Puffs (Spinach Paneer Pastry) with Orange Mint Chutney

April 17, 2016 by jill.patel Leave a Comment

Craving your go-to Palak Paneer curry but don’t want to cave into the temptation of ordering a heavy Indian restaurant meal?  These puffs are like a handheld version of palak paneer and naan all rolled into one. Now I’m the type of person that believes if you’re eating something handheld then you need to be dipping (or dunking if you’re like me) that handheld into a sauce.  Ketchup or lately sriracha are easily my go-to dipping sauces. April 9, 2016 by jill.patel Leave a Comment

Chicken tortilla soup is made to be had on cold rainy days.  The warm, spicy broth filled with shredded chicken, black beans, and tomatoes, then topped with crispy tortilla chips and cheese is just the perfect meal to warm your body when the wind is gusting and it's pouring outside.   The one that I’ve been making at home is based off The Pioneer Woman’s recipe (I gotta admit though I love most, if not all of her recipes!!) with some of my own modifications.  So I used the recipe and just ...

Masala Chai

March 19, 2016 by jill.patel Leave a Comment

Masala Chai I loved having pretend tea parties when I was little.  I think it was really just because I loved the little plastic tea set I had. So I would set up the little tea cups and use whatever pantry items I could get my hands on to have my makeshift tea party. These days, I still love buying pretty tea cups but unfortunately have no time to actually host tea parties!  Most days, I barely have time to grab a tea bag and a mug of hot water.  But on the days when there’s a little ...

February 22, 2016 by jill.patel 2 Comments

Sesame Vegetable Hakka Noodles Sometimes you need a meal that’s super easy to prepare.  Sometimes you want to eat a homemade meal but don’t feel like spending hours in the kitchen.  Sometimes you just need to clean out the fridge and try to use up veggies before they go bad.   This noodle recipe meets all the criteria!   They’re quick and easy to prepare, especially if you have pre-shredded veggies (what a time-saver!).  And this is definitely a dish where you just toss in whatever ...

So we recently took Jaiden to the Crayola Factory in nearby Easton PA for part of his 3rd birthday celebration. Honestly, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, thinking it was just a crayon factory/workshop. I read from their website they had a ton of exhibits and activities but was it really going to be…
