Rainbow Cereal Marshmallow Treats

Rainbow Cereal Marshmallow Treats

Check out this quick treat for kids! Now that its back to school for the kids, I’m sure you’re looking for ideas on how to keep them from whining and complaining the second they walk through those doors again! Have some rainbow cereal marshmallow treats ready for them!

So this is just a simple twist on the classic rice cereal marshmallow treats! I’ve found that sometimes when you play around with a classic recipe, if you only tweak one minor thing, the flavor remains too similar. And you’re left wanting the classic and instead of appreciating the change up! So I changed the marshmallows and the cereal!

Rainbow Cereal Marshmallow Treats

I switched out the classic marshmallows with Strawberries and Cream marshmallows! These I found in Target. They have a bunch of different flavors (like cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, cinnamon churros, even pumpkin spice right now!) so you can really play around with these even more than I did! I was trying to please my 2 year old toddler’s palate! And of course no matter how hard I try to turn him into a toddler connoisseur, he loves his simple cereals and fruity flavors!

And instead of using the usual rice cereal, I switched it up with Fruity Pebbles to really make these stand out and to give it a completely different flavor.

Rainbow Cereal Marshmallow Treats

It’s a great, sweet and fruity treat for kids! I cut them pretty small because I wanted to make sure the portion was reasonable. You know, not cause too much sugar overload of course! But you can play around with these just like the classic cereal treats! Cut them into different shapes or mold them how ever you like!

Remember to work quickly though! Once the marshmallows and butter have melted together, you don’t have much time to get the cereal stirred in there! I had set out a greased tray ahead of time to make sure it was all ready ahead of time. That’s it, that’s the only tip I have for these. Its like a non-recipe (because everyone knows how to make the classic rice cereal treats) this is more like an idea. But its a rainbow colored, fruity flavored idea that the kids may just love!
